sparking the imagination

well the last week has been a BORING one... And ever since I got back from NY I've been in a funk... It's always hard to transition between NY and NC. It's so different. I'm such a New Yorker at heart. The need to always do something, be on the go. I like being busy. I like working at Hannaford. No one seems to understand why. But I like the people I work with there. They are nice. We all joke around. Even though i dont work there 24/7 365 days a year, we all just pick up where we left off. Friday nights are karaoke night at the registers with Ellen, who is our mamma bear. I love being able to make someone's day by singing along with the radio we have playing while u shop. most people like it. We always have our regulars. In the morning it's the old people who shop EVERY SINGLE DAY... and then at night we have our drunks who come buy to pick up more beer. and of course the millions of regular old joes who come to shop with their kids. Then there are the people who know me through my parents and half the time I HAVE NO IDEA who they are. Lol. 90% of the time it's a lot of fun. And I make really good money there. 

   In NC it's so slow. most the time I'm spending my time trying to be creative in a town that does very little to spark the imagination. and my job pays hardly over min. wage. a busy day is a 5 mins wait in one of the 5 lines that are open between the hours of 5-7pm. that is nothing compared to a busy day in NY. it's crazy how different it is here. no one is in a hurry to go anywhere. 

    well anyways enough about my complaining... here are a few of the pictures I took of myself while I am emerging from my funk and try to spark the creative flow. 

Crazy Updates...

I got back from visiting KY and my christmas vacation at home in NY. Well, I believe it was Tuesday night We had a small fire in the attic in our apartment building. It was a interesting ordeal. No one could leave cause this fire engine was in the way. No one told us to leave the building until We decided to come out of our apartment to see what the noise was about. They had to hack a hole into the ceiling in order to get to the fire. Everything is fine and only 2 apartments dealt with damage which i think was more due to water than fire. There weren't even flames... just smoke. But thought i'd share..

                                                                                                                                                                                         So I have lived in Greenville, NC for 4 years now and have never seen real snow here

. Today it snowed ALL DAY... Everything was closed by 3pm which put a damper on my shopping plans... i got the essentials so i guess thats good. Classes were canceled. But being from snow country NY... this snow is NOTHING and it all seems ridiculous to me. 

The last week sure has been a crazy one.... 

Back to the Every Day Grind

So I made it back. I'm in North Carolina starting my final semester at college. I'm so ready for May to come. It's going to be a long semester with tons of work. I've gotta work on my final body of work. Not really sure what it's going to be about yet. I thought I had an idea but now i'm rethinking it. 

  Anyways, So I had a very busy Christmas break. Once I got started working again at Hannaford, I worked a lot of hours. As many as they would give me. And with 3 people quiting before the holiday, I got a lot of extra hours. Any free time I had I was sleeping or spending time with friends and family. I wish I had more time to spend with them but gotta make money. I enjoyed the time I did get with each one of my friends and family members. I went to see a few movies. I took ashby to see YES MAN which was hilarious. My mom, Darien, and mimi and I went to the Curious case of Benjamin Button. It was an amazing movie but I didn't realize how long it was. I felt bad for the people behind me cause after about an hour i kept moving. oh well, it was fun. 

     On Wednesday, I left NY for KY. My boyfriend lives there and I went to visit. I felt bad cause he spent Christmas all alone. I had a blast. We had three days to spend real time together. I got to see the place for what it is. Which is a whole lot of country between a bunch of spread out towns. The towns themselves have a lot of things they just are spread out. Everything is connected by a bunch of highways. It will take awhile to get used to when I move there in May. Which is the plan at the moment. I got to meet all of his friends. They are really nice out there. 

      So here it is monday and I'm back in NC. Slowly unpacking and getting back into the swing of things. I am trying to reconnect with my friends in the area. Well I still have some homework to tend to so guess I should get to it.
